The Harriman Class 72-IC-1/2/3 were used in San Francisco to San Jose commuter
service, and outlived
all
other heavy weight chair cars in regular service. All 75 cars were
still in commuter service in 1968, some
even
lasted into the 1980's. They ran behind many different class of
engines both steam and diesel such as the famous
GS class Northerns, MT class
Mountains and the FM Trainmasters to the P class Pacifics and GP-9 diesel
engines.
